SUMMER PROJECT!

Week 1.. June 1-7 I went with my entire group of friends to El Teatro Manuel Bonilla to watch a show about West Side Story and Michael Jackson performed by girls dancing. I had the experience to review everything I had learned in English class and even explain the whole story of west Side story to my other friends who had no clue about the show. I practiced my English all along the show singing the songs and explaining characters and English words that some did not understand. It was a very nice experience and I enjoyed watching the girls dance and have a great time. The picture attached is a paper everyone got in the entrance that showed who was dancing and what song we were watching. Carolina, Futch, and I had the great idea of posting this event in the first week because it was the perfect example of reviewing what we did in class.
Week 2 … June 8-14
Today June 11 I left to Miami and had a great time in the airplane and the airport with my entire family. We were about 20 people traveling together. I enjoyed talking with the man in immigration. He made me feel very welcome in his country. We were talking about his long day in work and my trip. We even talked about our summer project and he said it was a good way to continue learning new things and incorporating our second language in our daily life. Afterwards my sister did not stop talking in English the entire trip and I had a very good practice with her. The picture below shows me and my cousins waiting in the airport all anxious for an amazing trip! We heard all type of English music that we all like. The picture below is of our entire luggage. People kept staring because we were such a big group.
Week 3… June 15-21
I started reading a book that is called “Some Like it Hot” written by Zoey Dean. It shows a typically American girl with money. Anna the main character had arrived recently to this town where girls had already formed their group and hardly allowed new members. She was accepted but not liked by all the members especially Cammie. She was an arrogant girl and wanted boys only to herself. So far, I have not liked the book because it is too typical of teenagers and does not have a story of its own. In several books I have read the main character is not accepted in society and has to fight with bullying. I hope that later on the story has an interesting twist!
Week 4… June 22- 28
Today June 25 I went to the Everglades with my entire family. We had an interesting look at crocodiles and have fun in the little boat we were taken to the Tiamiami Trial. The tour guide had to talk in English because we were with some American people that did not understood Spanish, so this was a way to practice English. We only had the opportunity to see one female crocodile. It was not more than 1 meter long. We had to put cotton in our ears because the engine made so much noise. This was an excellent experience. We laughed with the tour guide´s jokes and took many pictures. The picture I posted is one of my family pictures in the engine.
June 29- July 5
This week my cousins and I met some french guys that were so hot! We saw them playing in South Beach, they were playing volleyball and we were walking near by. One of them asked if we wanted to play with them and we sure did! We played for more than 2 hours. When they talked in french we could not understand! I took french classes in school but I did not learn anything. The only way to communicate with them was speaking English! It was the best experience of practicing my English with such cute boys. When we wanted to discuss who was hotter we talked in Spanish and they had no idea we were talking about them. They had strange names but the one I will never forget is MAXIMO.
July 6-12
In Miami, it is a tradition that our family goes to Hooters and we ask for about 200 wings. They are my favorite food and I enjoyed eating them. My brother and cousins had an amazing time talking with the girls and taking pictures. I ordered food and talked with the girl working there and that is how I practiced my English. It was a very interesting story the one who Sam told me. Sam was the girl who attended us. She had family members who were latinos and her job was to attend this people. She enjoyed attending people that related to her. In this picture we are with Sam having a nice time.
July 13-19This week I came back to Hondureas. Today, July 7 I met Carolina Bendeck´s friend called Daniela. She lives in Miami and came for a visit. We took her to party here in Tegucigalpa and had a great time. I practiced my English the whole week because she barely understands Spanish. I taught her many words in Spanish, but apparently only bad words caught her interest. She met boys and the one he liked could not speak English so I was their translator and it was so funny. She told me all about parties in Miami and there are wild! I was amazed of how girls behaved in those parties. The picture below is Daniela. She always had a smile and her face. We keep in contact through facebook and next summer we are visiting her. July 20-26
Yesterday, July 26 I had lots of fun reading FMLs. Reading this I can see how many problems people have and that they can feel better posting their problems. We had a sleepover with 3 of my friends. One of her had problems with her boyfriend. We found out that we could easily post some FMLs in internet. She felt better telling everyone her problem. Girls like me who read this things can comment. They gave her advices and told her not to forgive him. It is so fun and if you want to read some FMLs you can enter this link: FML link When I am bored I can laugh so hard of some of them. The FML that won today was “Today, I was telling my best friend about how much I like this girl. 5 minutes later he changes his relationship status on facebook from single to in a relationship with the girl I was just talking to him about. FML
